Carmel Catholic High School presents its spring musical, 'Thoroughly Modern Millie'

Carmel Catholic High School's drama department will present its 2015 spring musical, "Thoroughly Modern Millie," April 24-26 in the school's auditorium, 1 Carmel Pkwy. in Mundelein.

Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" was the 2002 season's most awarded new show on Broadway and the winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

It tells the story of a girl, Millie Dillmount, from a small-town in Kansas who moves to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a modern idea in the roaring 20s. She samples the "modern" flapper lifestyle, makes friends and runs into trouble when she moves into the Hotel Priscilla.

Under the direction of Carmel drama director Denise Sebastiano, a cast of more than 50 students brings this show to life. The show includes lively dance numbers and a full score of new songs.

Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. Order tickets online or call (847) 388-3450.
