See Russian 'Leviathan' screening at Tivoli Theatre

Film critics notebook:

• The After Hours Film Society presents the Oscar-nominated foreign language movie “Leviathan,” a Russian crime drama, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave., Downers Grove. Admission costs $10 ($6 for members). Go to afterhoursfilmsociety.com.

• Elgin Community College hosts the Latino Film Festival Elgin, Friday, April 10, through Friday, April 17. This marks the third year the college has hosted the fest, which features films from Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Peru, Spain and Venezuela.

The fest begins with Chile's “Desastres Naturales” (“Natural Disasters”) at 6 p.m. April 10, in the Building G Spartan Auditorium on ECC's Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

• The Chicago Film Critics Association presents Brian DePalma's western-inspired gangster drama “The Untouchables” (shot in Chicago, too!) at 1 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, at the Elk Grove Cinema, 1050 Elk Grove Town Center, Elk Grove Village. CFCA board member and Cary resident Peter Sobczynski will host the movie and lead a post-show discussion. Admission $5. Rated R for violence. 119 minutes. ★ ★ ★ ★ Go to classiccinemas.com.

• The third annual Chicago Critics Film Festival, spearheaded by Elk Grove Village critic Erik Childress, runs May 1-7 at Chicago's Music Box Theatre. The program line-up and a list of visiting filmmakers have just been posted at chicagocriticsfilmfestival.com.
