Fiber art display opens at the Adler Center in Libertyville

The David Adler Music and Arts Center will host artist Jeri Pollock's exhibit, "Stitched: The Art of Fiber," during April as part of its ongoing Exhibit Series. Pollock's embroidery, needlepoint, crewel work, and trapunto will be on display beginning April 10.

An opening reception will be Friday, April 10, from 5-9 p.m. at the David Adler Center. This event is free and open to the public.

Jeri Pollock is a member of the Studio Art Quilters Association.

"My art grows out of my passion for needlework of all types," Pollock wrote. "Whether stitching by hand or machine, there is a connectivity between artist and material, between my hand and my work. Most often, the work begins with a plain, white fabric and proceeds through dozens of steps, dyeing, painting, printing, stenciling, stitching. Each step builds layers, depth, and texture as the work evolves into its final form."

Her pieces are recognized for their complexity and intuitive craftsmanship.

Visit "Stitched: The Art of Fiber" through May 10 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at the David Adler Music and Arts Center.
