Get ready for Route 68 traffic angst

Drivers in both Kane and Cook counties might want to find alternatives to Route 68 (Dundee Road) with construction projects ongoing this spring and summer.

Illinois Department of Transportation crews will resurface Route 68 between Route 59 and Route 12 (Rand Road) in Barrington Hills, Inverness and Palatine.

Drivers can expect daytime lane closures with traffic being reduced to one lane with flaggers.

Farther west in East Dundee, more resurfacing on Route 68 is occurring between Main Street and Prairie Lake Road. Two lanes will be decreased to one with flaggers directing traffic.

IDOT planners advised motorists to expect delays and longer travel times.
