Incumbents, PTA president take Wheaton Warrenville Dist. 200 seats

The two incumbents on the Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 board will serve another term, alongside PTA President Chris Crabtree.

With all 80 precincts unofficially reporting, Crabtree was the top vote-getter, with 5,287. Incumbent Jim Gambaiani came in second with 5,069 votes, followed by board member James Vroman with 4,122 votes. Newcomer Judith Zapf collected 3,873 votes, followed by Gary Tonn, who gathered 3,568 votes.

Crabtree, also a former District 200 teacher, said she would like to see more science, technology, engineering and math education in younger grade levels. She also wants the district to provide more training to staff and work to find new sources of revenue.

Gambaiani, president of a software company, will serve a second term. He said he would like to see every expense line item scrutinized and adjusted when appropriate. However, he said he is pleased with how well-prepared District 200 students appear to be for the next phase of their lives.

Vroman, a retired attorney, also will start a second term. He was elected in 2011 and took on the role of vice president in 2013. Vroman said he wants to see the board continue to address several issues it has been faced with in recent years, including transparency and changing demographics.

There were three 4-year terms available on the board because Rosemary Swanson, who is finishing her fourth term on the board, decided to not seek re-election.
