Company launches sacroiliac joint fusion system

Zyga Technology, Inc., a medical device company focused on the design, development and commercialization of minimally invasive devices to treat underserved conditions of the lumbar spine, recently announced the launch and first commercial use of an updated SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System.

"The ability to use sacroiliac joint fusion as a treatment modality is incredibly important for the effective management of my patients presenting with sacroiliac dysfunction," said Dr. Brett Menmuir, who performed the surgery at the Reno Orthopedic Clinic in Nevada. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists low back pain as the second most common cause of disability in U.S. adults. It has been reported that approximately 20 percent of all chronic low back pain derives from the sacroiliac joint..
