A pair of wins for Wauconda

Wauconda got two softball wins over Grayslake Central on Saturday, 10-2 and 6-5.

In the first game, Brooke Sefcik drilled 2 home runs for Wauconda. She drove in a total of 5 runs.

Kayla Wedl finished with 3 hits for Wauconda, including a double.

Taylor McCarthy and Alex Steffens also added 2 hits apiece.

Wedl was the winning pitcher. She rolled up a whopping 18 strikeouts in the game. She gave up only 2 hits.

Teagan Truskowski and Melissa Obis each drove in a run for Grayslake Central.

In the second game, Wauconda scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to win.

Hailey Davenport, Kayla Wedl and Brooke Sefcik each had 2 hits for Wauconda. Both of Wedl's hits were doubles.

Hayley Redmann was the winning pitcher.

Brandy Heraty led Grayslake Central with 3 hits while teammates Teagan Truskowski and Julianna Frusolone each had 2 hits.

Prairie Ridge 14, Lakes 13: Despite out-hitting Prairie Ridge 18-14, Lakes dropped the nonconference game.

Molly Dietz went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate for the Eagles. She had a home run and 2 doubles and drove in 6 runs.

Rachel Becker and Ashley Horner added 3 hits apiece for Lakes.

Ally Perdue hit a home run for the Eagles.

Mundelein 8, Grant 1: At The Bandits Ballpark in Rosemont on Friday night, the Mustangs stayed hot, despite the cold weather.

Maria DeVito went 3-for-4 with a triple and double, while freshman Breanna Adams went the distance in the circle. Adams allowed 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out four.

Mundelein (6-2) also got a triple from Maggie Mahar and a double from Kaitlyn Griffin.

"It was a really cool experience," Mustangs coach Brett Wilhelm said. "We had a lot of fun."
