It was definitely two different games in this nonconference doubleheader in Downers Grove. Caroline Hedgcock (3-0) hit a home run, drove in 2 and struck out 10 batters in a 1-hitter in the opener. Zahyra McFarland added a solo homer. In Game 2, Downers South (6-0) outslugged Lincoln-Way West 18 hits to 9 in the 5-inning game. Pitcher Payton Buresch (3-0) benefitted from another McFarland home run and others by Kristin Lea and Megan LoBianco, and Buresch hit one herself and drove in 5 runs. Kristen Bialek went 3-for-4 and scored 3 runs.

Downers Grove North 7, Neuqua Valley 5:

At the Providence tournament, Downers North senior pitcher Megan Ramsden earned the win when the Trojans rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, negating home runs by Neuqua Valley's Jordyn Diaz and Dominica Lange.

That was just the opposite of the Wildcats' first game. Neuqua Valley (2-7) beat Manteno 10-8 by scoring 2 in the top of the seventh. Senior Molly Price (1-3) got the win, Julia Huebner and Jenny Budds each hitting a double and 2 singles.

York 1-10, Glenbard North 0-2:
