214@100: All eyes are on RMHS's Garoppolo

Rolling Meadows High School has produced many distinguished alumni, but 2010 alumnus Jimmy Garoppolo is among the most successful. The former Meadows quarterback has beaten records previously set by ex-NFL player and current New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, won the Walter Payton Award and is now the second-string quarterback for the New England Patriots.

"Meadows helped me a lot," said Garoppolo, who returned to the high school to talk with students and former teammates before last year's NFL draft. "It's a unique school, and I really enjoyed my experience there."

Garoppolo has already made his first touchdown pass in the NFL, in a game against Kansas City. "Being a rookie, I'm learning a lot and all the experience I can get is just going to help me go in more," Garoppolo said.
