Stevenson adds to Florida win total
Stevenson's baseball team picked up another win in Florida on Wednesday.
Northwestern-bound Willie Bourbon, Patrick Loeffler and Carter Baretz each went 2-for-3 with a double, as the Patriots beat Russell 7-3.
Jack Trotter, Charlie Ling and Dylan Molek also doubled for Stevenson, which won twice in Florida on Monday. Ling and Baretz had 2 RBI apiece.
Michael Kingery pitched 5⅔ innings for the win, allowing 3 runs and striking out a pair.
Grant 10, Richmond-Burton 4: Nick Heidenthal went 3-for-3 with a double, James Pendley was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, and Ben Kusiak belted a 3-run homer for the Bulldogs (3-2).
Bryan Libby (2-0) pitched 6 innings in the nonconference game, giving up 3 earned runs and recording 3 strikeouts.
Grayslake North 4, Wauconda 2: Jake Damore was 2-for-3 for the host Knights, who opened the scoring with 3 runs in the second inning of the nonconference game.
George Deligiannis and Alex Carrillo both doubled for Grayslake North (3-4). Deligiannis and Merrick Gentile (1-for-3) had RBI. Pat Schaefer pitched 5⅓ innings for the win.
Wauconda's Luke Weller doubled and tripled.
Mundelein 11, Wheeling 0: Luke Peterson homered and Reese Dolan doubled twice, as the host Mustangs improved to 7-1.
Both Peterson and Dolan finished 2-for-3, while Nick Brune was 2-for-2. Brendan Murphy was the winning pitcher.
Vernon Hills 7, Carterville 0: After a solid outing in relief on Saturday, Eric Weiler earned the start for Vernon Hills.
He did not disappoint, throwing 5⅓ shutout innings, allowing only 4 hits. Nick Conrad pitched the final 1⅔ innings, retiring all five hitters that he faced. Both pitchers were supported by errorless defense.
The Cougar offense was fueled once again by Connor McNamara (2-for-4, double) and Nick Marras (2-for-4, RBI). Drew Winegardner (1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases), Sam Perlin (1-for-4, double), Brendan Keogh (1-for-3, triple, 2 RBI) and Nick Conrad (2-for-3) were also key contributors.
Christian Liberty 14, Round Lake 2: Nathan Gonzalez had a double for the Panthers in their nonconference loss.
McHenry 12, Antioch 0: Ben Gutke had the only 2 hits for the Sequoits in their nonconference loss.
Barrington 17, Lake Zurich 2: Tyler Peterson was 2-for-4 for the Bears, who suffered the nonconference defeat. Cam Boyle doubled and drove in a run for Lake Zurich.
Dundee-Crown 13, Grayslake Central 2: Ethan La Beck had a double for the Rams, who managed just 4 hits. Ben Fitzgerald singled and had a pair of RBI for Grayslake Central.
