May, Carmel Catholic outlast Grant

Michael May slammed 14 kills, as Carmel Catholic's boys volleyball team outlasted Grant 30-28, 25-15 Wednesday night.

Ryan Fuller led Carmel (2-0) defensively with 8 digs, while Fuller and Sean Wittman each served 2 aces. Kyle Zeman contributed 5 kills and 6 digs for the Corsairs.

"Kudos to Grant for really keeping the pressure on in Game 1," Carmel coach Kevin Nylen said. "We could never really get into a good rhythm offensively or defensively. Game 2 was much better for us. May carried us offensively all night and was simply terrific."

Drew Mehigan dished out 28 assists and was terrific again working with the hitters, Nylen added.

Zion-Benton d. Antioch: The Sequoits fell 25-14, 25-10, despite Ian Flatley's 6 kills, 2 blocks and 7 digs.
