Naperville golf courses swing open for season
Time for spring became time to swing - a golf club, that is - for players who came out to the opening weekend at the Naperville Park District's Springbrook and Naperbrook golf courses.
The courses opened Friday on the first day of spring, and ground conditions were favorable for golfers and their carts.
"We are very pleased to see that both courses emerged from the winter in very good shape, without the winter damage seen in previous years," said Kevin Carlson, superintendent of golf. "The recent warm weather has allowed the ground to dry out and our staff has been busy getting the courses ready for play."
Also back this spring will be FootGolf, a combination of soccer and golf, at Naperbrook on Saturdays and Mondays from 5 p.m. to dark.
Randy Bray of Naperville ventured out to golf at Springbrook Sunday.
"I would have played earlier if I could have," Bray said. "I am good with whenever they open."
Another golfer who was eager to hit the links this weekend was Cole Langeley of Naperville who played Saturday and Sunday at Springbrook. "I will play in the 20s," said Langeley who lives very close to the course and would play every day if he could.
