Take court reporting a step further

Thank you for the excellent article on lack of funds for court reporters. We need an accurate record of court proceedings for possible review by juries during their deliberations and for possible future challenges.

But isn't it time we replace the primitive method of recording on a special shorthand typewriter and transcribing the notes to a written record of the proceedings that can be used by judges and juries in their deliberations?

We are seeing a push to have body cameras on policemen to accurately record arrests. Why not bring court recording into the 21st century and video record the proceedings?

This will not save money as we will need a cameraman to zoom in on testimony and possibly a reporter to produce a written record of proceedings for future reference when technology changes again. But we would now have an accurate record of proceedings, free of any bias for more just decisions.
