Local entertainer wins Chicago Music Award

Critically-acclaimed Orland Hills-based singer/songwriter Peter Oprisko was honored as the Best Jazz Entertainer of 2015 at the 34th annual Chicago Music Awards held Sunday, March 15th at the Copernicus Center in Chicago.

The CMAs are considered the local equivalent of the Grammy Awards and Oprisko was humbled by the win.

"This award belongs to all the fans even more than it belongs to me," Oprisko said during his acceptance speech. Grammy-winning jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis calls Oprisko "The Rolls-Royce" of singers today, and Peter periodically performs the national anthem for the home games of the Chicago White Sox. Additionally, his recordings and original songs have been featured in movies and on numerous popular television series including "Criminal Minds," "NCIS," "Go On," and "The Mindy Project."

Averaging 300 performances annually nationwide for the past 15 years, Oprisko has attracted a large following with his romantic vocals and engaging presentation that preserves and perpetuates the musical legacies of America's foremost singers and songwriters. His concerts at numerous venues throughout the Northwest suburbs (including the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights) have attracted standing room-only crowds, and he has just released his eighth studio album entitled "Lost In A Kiss."

Accompanied by various-sized music ensembles (ranging from solo piano to symphony orchestras), Oprisko is a regular staple at theaters, performing arts centers, charity galas, nuptials, corporate events, and casinos throughout North America. A complete list of upcoming local performances can be found on the schedule page of Oprisko's website at www.peteroprisko.com.
