Fremont Public Library in Mundelein to host circus train exhibit

The Fremont Public Library in Mundelein and the North Central O Gauge Model Railroaders have planned a circus weekend featuring a unique exhibit of scale model replicas of circus wagons, trains, trucks and circuses.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Fremont Public Library in Mundelein.

Nine members of the Circus Model Builders of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois will be on hand to answer questions about the display and explain to visitors how a circus train looked when horses pulled the wagons and how much detail went into building the wagons that hauled the circus from one town to the next.

Additionally, the North Central O Gaugers will be running model circus and carnival trains on their layout. A special guest will be Thomas the Tank Engine and all of his friends. The kids can actually run Thomas on the tracks and become honorary engineers.

Children who enjoy building with Lego blocks are sure to appreciate watching actual running Lego trains.

This event is free. The Fremont Public Library is at 1170 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein. For details, call (847) 566-8702.
