Zarkowsky replaces Gauthier on Dist. 96 board

Kildeer Countryside School District 96 Board of Education members Tuesday approved the appointment of Cynthia Zarkowsky to fill the vacancy created by the resignation in February of Bob Gauthier.

She was among three candidates who interviewed her selection was unanimous. She will serve the remainder of Gauthier's term, which ends in April 2017.

A Buffalo Grove resident, Zarkowsky has served as secretary, then president of the Prairie Elementary School PTO from 2009 through last June. "We feel very fortunate to have Mrs. Zarkowsky seated at our table," said board President Marc Tepper in a news release.

Zarkowsky has a master's degree in teaching from National Louis University and has taught elementary students in Northbrook District 28, Lake Zurich District 95 and Deerfield District 109. She and her husband Aaron have three children enrolled in District 96 schools.

"Cynthia is collaborative, caring, and fully focused on doing what's best for our students," Superintendent Julie Schmidt said in a news release.
