Barrington passes MSL West test against Fremd

Barrington improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-Suburban West by topping visiting Fremd 13-9 on Wednesday in boys water polo.

Marshall Mathias (5 goals), Mitch Gavars (3) and Chase Lesniak (2) accounted for all the scoring as Barrington jumped out to an 8-4 lead at the half.

Conant 20, Schaumburg 11: The Cougars stayed perfect in MSL West play with a decisive win as Connor Schmitz (5 goals), Braden Lamore (4) and Mihir Patel and Tyler Goehrke (3 each) led the way.

Tyler Gustafson led the Saxons with 4 goals.

St. Rita 12, St. Viator 9: Keegan Finn led the way for the host Lions with 5 goals and Zachary Benson had 2 as St. Rita prevailed. Frank Skorski stopped 10 shots for St. Viator.

Palatine 17, Hoffman Estates 1: Ryan Schlaiss was a force for Palatine, scoring 8 goals as the Pirates rolled to an MSL West win.

Key Pirates contributors included T.J. May (3 goals, 2 assists), Alex Adame (2 goals, 4 assists), Marcus Carter-Buckman (2 goals, 2 assists) and Colin White (4 blocks, 6 steals).

Prospect 19, Meadows 8: Meadows stayed close through the first half before the Knights got separation with a 9-goal third quarter.

Sam Gabriel paced the Mustangs with 8 goals and Isaac Ginnodo and Tyler Culliton had 3 apiece.

Maine West 11, Lake Forest 9: Goalie Paul Bilski stopped 8 shots as the Warriors earned their first victory of the season. Adam Smolik-Valles, Brendan Atwood and Ethan Herrera each had 3 goals, and Tony Connor contributed 2.
