HandsOn Suburban Chicago's 'Be the Change' event to salute volunteers

HandsOn Suburban Chicago, a volunteer connector organization that inspires, equips and mobilizes people to volunteer, will host its annual Volunteer Recognition Breakfast 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, at the Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights.

For the past 46 years, HandsOn Suburban Chicago has hosted an event that unites business and community leaders, citizen supporters and service champions to recognize the powerful impact HOSC and their partners are making in the lives of individuals throughout the area. The theme of this year's event is "Be the Change: Celebrate Service," and will feature the nine organizations other than HOSC that have gone through training in order to achieve Service Enterprise status, accredited by Points of Light (www.PointsOfLight.org).

A Service Enterprise fundamentally leverages volunteers and their skills across all levels of the organization to successfully deliver on its mission. Through this process and in partnership with HOSC, these organizations are making a bigger impact in the community.

During the event, attendees will witness the transformation each of these organizations has made as a result of the Service Enterprise process. Each will have a story to tell and volunteers to recognize and honor.

The 10 organizations and volunteers who support them that will be recognized during the event are Northwest Compass Inc., Palatine Opportunity Center, The Bridge Youth and Family Services, Little City Foundation, Escorted Transportation Services Northwest, WINGS, Community Education Township District 214, Barrington Area Council on Aging Inc., and Center of Concern.

HandsOn Suburban Chicago depends on the support of the community and is inviting volunteers, nonprofits and the local business community to attend this inspirational event.
