Davis, Kinzinger say they are saddened by colleague's fall

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican members of the Illinois delegation to Congress are weighing in on Aaron Schock's resignation following revelations of lavish spending and improper expense reporting.

Sixteenth District Congressman Adam Kinzinger said in a statement Tuesday he has come to know and respect the 18th District congressman's dedication to serving his constituents. Noting Schock's efforts to look for ways to end partisan gridlock, Kinzinger said he was "saddened to learn of his resignation and wish him the best."

Thirteenth District Congressman Rodney Davis is calling Schock a friend, adding his resignation is a sad day for the Illinois delegation.

In announcing he will vacate his seat at the end of the month, Schock said the questions over his actions have made it too difficult for him to serve his district effectively.
