Reiff paces Wheeling victory

Wheeling's Nate Reiff came up with 7 goals to help the Wildcats pick up a 12-4 boys water polo victory over host Buffalo Grove in their first Mid-Suburban East game of the year.

Wheeling (2-4, 1-0) scored 4 goals in the first period, then held BG (1-1, 0-1) without a goal in the third.

Fenwick 13, St. Viator 8: The host Lions gave the state's top-ranked team quite a battle as Keegan Finn and Shea Boyer both had 3 goals and Alec Resendez 2 while goalie Frank Skorski made 7 saves.

Barrington 14, Schaumburg 10: The visiting Broncos (5-1, 1-0) produced a 6-goal first period and were able to stay in front the rest of the way to pick up an MSL West win on the road.

James Birriel (3 goals) and Tyler Gustafson (2) led the scoring for the Saxons (1-5, 0-1).

Prospect 12, Hersey 8: Sam Gabriel and Isaac Ginnodo had 4 goals apiece to help the host Knights prevail in an MSL East matchup.

Hersey (3-2, 1-1) grabbed a 2-0 lead early, but the Knights (1-2, 1-1) scored 3 goals in each period to eventually take control.

Jake Hall had 3 goals to lead Hersey's attack and Paul Kim scored twice.

Conant 20, Palatine 5: Connor Schmitz led a high-powered Cougars attack with 4 goals as Conant opened up MSL West play with a decisive win at Palatine.

Mihir Patel, Braden Lamore and Jim Estep each contributed 3 goals for Conant (2-0, 1-0), and Kevin Courtney and Vlad Hiroj had 2 each.

Senior Ryan Schlaiss led Palatine (1-6, 0-1) with 2 goals.
