Endorsements: Rhodes, Bruno, Weishaar and Dislers for District 20 board

In everything from how technology is used in the classroom to how the state of Illinois funds its schools, the way we educate our children is undergoing sweeping changes. Those changes will extend this year to the Keeneyville Elementary District 20 Board Of Education, which will welcome at least three new members after the April 7 election.

The field of five candidates seeking one of four 4-year terms on the school board features just one incumbent, Willie Rhodes. Also running are Sara E. Bruno, April Dislers, Andrea Schnorr and Heather Weishaar.

Davis earns our endorsement for his understanding of the district's strengths and challenges, and his call for real-time monitoring of district expenditures.

Bruno stands out among the newcomers, both for her experiences with district organizations such as the Gifted Education Committee and her call for more programs to assist English Language Learners, a growing population in the district.

We also endorse Weishaar, who calls for better communication with district residents and stronger efforts to pursue alternative revenue sources.

Dislers earns the final endorsement, based on her previous work with a district organization.
