CLC student wins national scholarship
A College of Lake County student has won a national Hispanic leadership scholarship. Officials announced Guadalupe Granados of Mundelein received the National United States Hispanic Leadership Institute's Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders. Only 20 students received the scholarship this year, which is based on leadership and community involvement. It is open to community college and university students from across the United States. Granados studies psychology at CLC, serves as vice president of Latino Alliance, is a Title V peer mentor and works part time. She has a 3.63 GPA and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for community colleges. She plans to transfer to a four-year college in the Chicago area this fall to major in international studies and psychology.
