Illinois man killed running across I-94 in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities say an Illinois man was struck and killed while running across Interstate 94 north of downtown Minneapolis.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 28-year-old Kyle Day, of Springfield, Illinois, was struck by an SUV shortly after 3 a.m. Friday. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died of multiple blunt force injuries from the accident.

The Ford Explorer that struck Day rolled on its side on the freeway, injuring a passenger whose injuries were not life threatening. The driver of the SUV was not hurt.

State Patrol spokeswoman Lt. Tiffani Neilson says it wasn't immediately clear why the pedestrian was on the freeway.
