We should know what we eat

Should genetically engineered foods be labeled? You decide.

Genetically engineered foods (or GMOs) are made by combining the DNA of different plants, animals, fungus and more. These foods aren't grown in nature, they're spliced in a lab by scientists.

People should care about GMOs because there have been no long-term studies on the safety of genetically engineered foods. The testing that has been done has been by the companies who make GMOs. I think I know a conflict of interest when I see one.

GMOs have become a part of nearly every aspect of our food supply system, from the corn and soy to eggs and dairy. Even animals are now fed GMO corn and feed which we get secondhand.

I believe we have the right to know what is in our food. Call your Illinois senator and ask them to support the GMO labeling bill. Together we can all demand the right to know what we eat.
