Suicide prevention volunteer meeting on Saturday

Suburban families who have been touched by depression or suicide or those who want to volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention can attend the group's annual volunteer gathering in Chicago on Saturday.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hilton Magnificent Mile, 198 E. Delaware Place in Chicago.

Attendees will learn about the group, network with other volunteers, be able to share their stories, help plan events such as the annual Out of the Darkness walk and get a free T-shirt.

Pon Angara, principal of Barkada Creative, will also be the guest speaker at the event to help discuss how to improve nonprofit communications and tell stories that make a difference in the community.

Register for the annual meeting online at www.afspilvolunteer.org/.
