Long Grove needs more new thinking

The Daily Herald's endorsement in the race for Long Grove village board splits the slates without evaluating the consequences.

Dividing the slates is not going to solve Long Grove's issues, especially the matters of road maintenance and proposed taxes, by way of SSAs.

I strongly believe that the Jacob, Sarlitto and Borys slate will best represent the residents and will advance our Village in the best direction, without being self serving.

This community already knows what a "board too cozy" can do. Last year, three board members and the village president, led by Charlie Wachs, pushed through an ordinance abandoning village owned roads and proposed a tax with virtually no board or public discussion.

It's time for a board that is comprised of independent thinkers. Skepticism is healthy and Long Grove residents need trustees who will be their voice in critical decisions.

I agree with your assessment of newcomer Jacob, but are you aware that both newcomers, Jacob and Sarlitto, have been fully involved in all village infrastructure workshops, public hearings and village board meetings for the past two years? For the past two years, incumbent Borys, along with Jacob and Sarlitto, have been the only ones that have "worked toward compromise to find the best way forward" and inspired newcomers Jacob and Sarlitto decided to seek office to help ease the tensions that the village board created with the residents and offer workable solutions

It is newcomer Michael Sarlitto who is not afraid to ask pertinent questions of the village board. He stood with the residents, along with incumbent Borys when the tax referendum threatened to bury our village.

I hope that voters consider recent history and vote for Jacob, Sarlitto and Borys. Chiqui Johnson
