UIC dismisses Moore as men's basketball coach
After compiling just one winning season in five years, UIC Flames men's basketball coach Howard Moore will not return for the 2015-16 season, school officials announced Tuesday.
"I want to thank Howard Moore for his five years of commitment," said UIC Athletic Director Jim Schmidt. "We have high expectations and aspire to be at the top of the Horizon League and we have not met our competitive goals. We have dedicated and talented student-athletes in the basketball program who are committed and make us optimistic for the future."
Moore, a Chicago native who played and coached at the University of Wisconsin, compiled a 49-111 record in five seasons at UIC, including a 17-67 Horizon League mark. After serving as an assistant for five season at Wisconsin, he was hired by UIC in 2010, replacing Jimmy Collins.
The Flames, who were 18-16 in the 2012-13 season, struggled in Moore's final two season, going 6-25 in 2013-14 and 10-24 this season.
