Phil Moss fired as coach of A-League's Central Coast side

GOSFORD, Australia (AP) - England-born Phil Moss has been fired by the Central Coast Mariners and replaced on an interim basis by technical director Tony Walmsley for the remainder of the A-League season.

The club on Friday said Moss' departure was another stage in planned changes by the club's new executive vice-chairman Peter Storrie.

Storrie, a former director and chief executive of English club Portsmouth and who had formerly worked with West Ham and Notts County, was brought in by Mariners owner Mike Charlesworth at the beginning of this season.

The Mariners sit eighth of 10 teams in the standings with just three wins from 19 matches, eight points outside a top-six playoff spot.
