Mother says 6-year-old son forced off at wrong bus stop

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis mother says she's outraged that a bus driver made her 6-year-old son get off at the wrong stop, leaving him to walk home through knee-deep snow and along a busy roadway.

WXIN-TV reports that (http://bit.ly/1wVhZFY ) the incident happened Monday on the city's southwest side.

Kelly Beers says her son, Cameron, came running home to their apartment red-faced and crying. He told her that a substitute bus driver wouldn't listen to him when he said he didn't live at the stop, about a half mile from the boy's home.

The boy's adoptive father was killed last year while walking along a roadside when deep snow covered the sidewalks.

A Decatur Township Schools spokeswoman says officials are investigating the incident and will adopt procedures to keep it from happening again.
