Teen sent to juvenile prison for killing half-sister

A 15-year-old Mundelein girl expressed gratitude for being sentenced to juvenile prison in the stabbing death of her younger half-sister in a bedroom of their home last year. Lake County Circuit Judge Valerie Ceckowski said during a formal sentencing hearing Tuesday the teen will receive counseling and other help while she is committed until her 21st birthday. A 19-year-old West Chicago man was sentenced Tuesday to 17 years in prison in connection with the November 2013 stabbing death of Thomas Tecuatl during an altercation in West Chicago.
