Federal agents still likely looking at siblings in IS case

CHICAGO (AP) - A lawyer for a Chicago-area man charged with trying to join the Islamic State group says a recent FBI search of the suspect's family home appeared to focus on his younger siblings.

Thomas Durkin spoke to reporters Tuesday after a brief status hearing in Chicago for 19-year-old Mohammed Hamzah Khan. Another hearing was set for April 21.

The Khans' Bolingbrook home was first searched Oct. 4 when Khan, and his brother and sister were detained at O'Hare International Airport. Only Khan was charged.

In a second search Thursday, Durkin says agents seized the brother and sister's cellphones. He says that could mean prosecutors are considering charging them. The prosecutor's office declined comment.

Durkin says Islamic State propaganda duped the children but they never harbored plans for violence.
