Jenny McCarthy to appear at St. Charles' Arcada Theatre
St. Charles' own Jenny McCarthy will appear at the Arcada Theatre June 13 as part of the comedian and ex-Playmate's national "Dirty, Sexy, Funny Comedy Tour."
The 42-year-old actress and former co-host of the ABC talk show "The View," is making her first appearance at a hometown venue after her much-publicized marriage to actor and singer Donnie Wahlberg at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles last summer. The couple have bought a house in St. Charles after originally considering settling in Geneva.
McCarthy will be accompanied by an all-female slate of stand-up comediennes taking "an outrageous look at life as a contemporary woman: from single motherhood to casual sex."
Arcada Theatre owner Ron Onesti said it's "definitely not a family show."
"I'm extremely excited," Onesti said. "She is our hometown girl. It's probably going to be a very interesting evening, and an important show for her, too. There's been so much hype about her. This is going to give the locals an opportunity to see what she is all about. It's going to be a really nice way to get to meet her."
Onesti said McCarthy requested to appear at the Arcada.
"It's a combination of us being the 'in' place to play and the fact that she is moving here," he said. "She has been hearing about us forever from everybody."
Onesti expects McCarthy's show to sell out. Yet, she's not the only Hollywood celebrity to appear.
"We've had everybody from Joan Rivers, Debbie Reynolds, Don Rickles, Wayne Newton, Kevin Costner," he said. "We've got Kevin Bacon coming in July. Billy Bob Thornton coming in May. She is definitely another A-lister to appear at the Arcada Theatre."
McCarthy's show begins at 8 p.m. June 13 at the theater, 105 E Main St., St. Charles. For tickets, call (630) 962-7000 or visit oshows.com.
