Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?My family uses the library's services regularly. We have benefitted from many of the library's programs for both adults and children. After all we've received, I am proud to be able to give back to the Prospect Heights library. If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of important initiatives you've led. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make. The library board is a team. I contribute to it in several ways but our work is a group effort. One of my strengths is my involvement on the building and grounds committee. I am involved in both tangible and future building protects.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?I have a library card, which I've held since I moved into town twenty years ago. I use it regularly.Space is an issue at many libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain. It's not always that simple, but we try to take advantage of modern technology. At this time I don't foresee any changes to the size of the library building. What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?Money is always an issue. I don't want to ask the community for more money unless it is absolutely the only option. I feel technological updates are important but must be affordable. As for how libraries can remain relivent and what are their roles; I believe that is not something that can be reduced into a sentence or two. I do believe libraries are an asset to any community and should continue to serve the public. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Sometime it's important to appreciate what we have and not overreach one's limitations. The library is the unsung gem of Prospect Heights and does not warrant major changes. We live within our budget and don't go to the voters for money often. But our size is not what matters to me. The staff is the best in the area and provides outstanding services which outshine many larger and more affluent libraries. It's the people, both the patrons and the staff, that make the library. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Even if you don't realize it, your family wants what's best for you.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I never given this any thought. There are plenty of real possibilities to dwell on.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Ironically my least favorite subject was reading yet now I'm an avid reader. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Stay in school.
