In addition, my personal history of working with businesses and governments means I have a unique insight to help our village continue to be successful. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. While I am personally for lower taxes, we have to weigh the good and the bad if tax levels go lower than their current levels. In order to lower taxes, we have to find a better method to help save spend taxpayer dollars that come in to our local communities allowing more services for less money or we need to cut programs. I am against cutting programs if they benefit our community so the only way to successfully lower property taxes is to offer assistance to our schools (where most of our property tax money goes - approximately 75% of your total property tax) to better manage and work with what they receive from the tax payers.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? We are served by The Grayslake Police Department, Grayslake Fire Department and The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District. While I would have preferred to maintain our own police department for that "warm fuzzy feeling" as many of our residents believe, I have called both our police and fire departments for a variety of reasons during the years that I have lived in Hainesville. They have always been responsive and courteous. My primary safety concerns include any pedestrian crossings on IL 120, Hainesville Road, Washington Street due to the traffic volume and speed.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Our existing Village Finance Committee and in turn our Village Board has done a very good job at controlling our expenses with limited revenues. I believe that the monies spent on our public safety, infrastructure, and wetlands should all be listed as top priorities as a breakdown in any of these areas could be devistating to our village. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I think that the Village of Hainesville could develop an Economic Development Committee which would work with businesses individuals to spur local development in our commercial and industrial undeveloped areas of the village. This could include the annexing of local unincorporated areas where there could be a mutual benefit to both the village the residents/businesses of those currently unicorporated areas. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? The biggest issue, in my opinion, facing Hainesville residents is the lack of a larger tax base in order to improve services for Village residents and businesses. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?To tell the truth. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would have focussed more on family. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?My favorite subject is Computer Science as it started the basics to assist with my cuurrent career. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Try your best and have fun! Regardless of the outcome, you will always be a winner!
