I have been a trustee for the past 5 years. My career as an Attorney has afforded me many opportunities to see both sides of government which allows me a unique perspective that I can bring to the board. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. Our local sales tax is minimal as we do not have enough commercial development in our Village. Although the Village only receives a minute portion of the property tax paid by the residents, I as most other citizens believe that our property taxes are way too high.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Do you have specific public safety concerns? We have an extremely efficient police department and fire protection district.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?We have trimmed our budget as much as we possibly could. In fact, when the current administration took over, the Mayor and we Trustees gave up any salary and insurance that previous administrations have had. We are all volunteers and are doing the job we do because it needs to be done and always with the best interest of our residents in mind. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?We are trying to develop a commercial "downtown" district. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Keeping taxes and expenses at a minimum.
