The services provided by the fire department comprise a percentage of the overall services available to the residents and I would like to have a "touch" on the balance of those services. I believe I will bring a unique balance of stability and experience as a trustee. My professional experience has seen me start at the bottom and work my way to the top, take on the challenges of business ownership, its successes and failures and the demanding challenges of being a fire fighter/paramedic for the Vilage of Mundelein. I have been a resident for over 18 years, all 4 of my children have attended Washington, Lincoln and Mundelein High schools and my family has involved themselves is various school activities. I have no reservation in saying our family feels well connected to the village and all it has provided. I respectfully ask that the residents of Mundelein consider allowing me to represent them as their next trustee. How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services that people want?I believe the current budget is fiscally sound and the current administration has worked tirelessly to stabilize it in the recovering economy. I would like to see continued improvements in roadway, infrastructure and resource management. In doing so I believe this will allow village personnel including public safety, field and administrative staff to respond in more efficient manner.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Evaluating the budget is a constantly evolving process as new resources and technologies become available. On the surface, improvements in energy efficiency's allow for reductions in manpower maintenance costs. These savings can allow for reduced response times to resident and facility related concerns. I would like to see more funding toward roadway improvements and incentives for residents to improve propertiesWhat is your vision for the downtown area, especially the empty land around the new village hall?My vision for this area is with multi purposed structures that house a balance between residential, restaurant and retail. I would like to see this be not only a driving destination but a comfortable walking destination route as well. I would like to see this expand east and west on Hawley from the village hall and north and south on Seymour. I would like to see the village continue to aquire properties that have long been neglected. I would like to see the visibility of the village enhanced with new gateway signage, monuments and artWhat should village hall do to reach out to Mundelein's sizable Hispanic population to get these residents involved in village activities and taking advantage of village services? The village already provides many biligual options to those residents. Services to the Hispanic population could be improved by reaching out to the activity centers and businesses that they frequent most and educating that community on what services are availableWhat other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? It is important to me that the residents of Mundelein believe that we ALL have the same the goal and that is to move Mundelein forward as a community. My experience as a public servant to the residents of Mundelein has taught me that it is not about one individual but what is in the best interest of allPlease name one current leader who most inspires you.I don't draw inspiration from one person, I draw from it from the purposefull actions of many and my faithWhat's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?The very simplest.... what is right and wrongIf life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Go to college. I could have still become an electrician and firefighter but would have an advanced education to fall back onWhat was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life? The sciences and even though I wasn't very good at it, the math's. It has helped in the mechanical and analytical aspects of my professionsIf you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Be humble about what you have achieved, grateful for those who have helped you get there and generous in passing those qualities on
