A devoted family person, who has had 2 children thrive in our excellent school system. 45 years of successful business experience, 38 with the same company. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. Our current level of village sales tax is adequate, with excellent revenue stream coming from the Arboretum Life Style Center and other Village businesses. The Village portion of our property tax is appropriate, and has been kept at it's existing low level for many years by the current and previous boards.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? Our Village does not have it's own Fire Department, but enjoys excellent coverage by the Barrington Countryside Fire Department for most of the village and the East Dundee Fire Department for a small portion. Their plans for coverage and expansion should handle our needs over the coming years. As a member of the Public Safety Committee, I am very close to our Police Department. I was instrumental in securing a third beat of officers to handle the needs of the Arboretum and address an increase in home invasions a few years back. I have complete faith in our new Police Chief Tom Roman and his staff to handle our needs for years to come.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?We have run a very tight ship for many years, so there aren't many areas that can be trimmed without sacrificing services. We will need to devote more monies to our roads and waterways as the Village ages. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Train several Policemen for bicycle patrol to bring the Police closer to our citizens and business owners. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Continued fiscal responsibility. Thoughtful development of our few remaining vacant parcels. Maintaining a properly sized and equipped Police Department. Continue our good relationship with neighboring villages. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Governor Bruce Rauner. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?The value of a close family. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Being an independent business owner. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?History. It helped me in later life by learning from the successes and failures of others. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Your word is your bond.
