Police identify pedestrian killed in southern Indiana

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in southern Indiana have identified a pedestrian struck and killed while trying to cross a highway as a 51-year-old man from Louisville, Kentucky.

Clark County Sheriff's Cpl. Scottie Maples tells the News and Tribune (http://bit.ly/1EYhyiW) Mitchell Jackson was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross U.S. 31 in Clarksville, about 5 miles north of Louisville. Maples said a witness in a semi-trailer told police that they almost struck the pedestrian before the second vehicle did hit him about 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Maples said no charges are likely.
