Suit against Palestinian groups includes Chicago-area woman

CHICAGO (AP) - A suburban Chicago woman who was shot in a 2002 attack in Jerusalem is among plaintiffs who could benefit from multimillion-dollar judgment against two Palestinian entities.

WMAQ-TV (http://bit.ly/1G0Y1Cc ) reports Shayna Gould testified recently during the trial in New York City. On Monday, a jury found the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority liable in a series of terrorist attacks in the early 2000s in Israel that killed or wounded Americans. Victims were awarded $218.5 million in damages that their lawyers said would be tripled under the U.S. Anti-Terrorism Act.

Gould was 19 years old during the 2002 attack, which killed two women and wounded dozens of people. She says the only way to hold groups responsible "is to hit them in the wallet."

The Palestinian groups plan to appeal the jury's decision. International law experts say collecting damages may be difficult.
