Teens being questioned in Aurora shooting death

Aurora police were questioning two male juveniles Friday in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old Aurora man.

Police said Gianni Aguirre, of the 100 block of Bluff Street, was gunned down about 1 p.m. as he stood outside his home.

They say Aguirre was approached by two males who were on foot and at least one of whom had a handgun. Multiple shots were fired at Aguirre, who was hit a single time in the chest. The two suspects then ran from the scene.

Roughly six minutes after the shooting, Aurora officers said they apprehended the two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, about two blocks from the crime scene, in the area of Lincoln Avenue just north of Seminary Street.

The pair, who fit the description of the offenders in the shooting, were arrested and a gun was recovered in that same area.

The shooting is not believed to be random.
