Marion woman charged with stealing shoes from store

MARION, Ill. (AP) - A Marion woman is accused of stealing four pairs of shoes from a department store and attacking an employee who tried to stop her.

The Southern Illinoisan (http://bit.ly/1zyKomf ) reports 35-year-old Christina Holcomb is charged with retail theft and aggravated battery in a public place.

According to Police Chief Dawn Tondini, the woman stole the shoes from Dillard's on Thursday evening. She says the employee who tried to intervene suffered minor injuries and wasn't hospitalized.

Todini says Holcomb lost one of the shoes she was wearing, as well as a brown wig and sunglasses, during the incident. The police chief says Holcomb fled the store with one shoe and was later arrested outside of town by Williamson County deputies.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Holcomb.
