Sustainable practices highlighted:

The Liberty Prairie Foundation, College of Lake County, Conserve Lake County, and the Prairie Crossing Charter School will present the award-winning film, "Symphony of the Soil," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the Byron Colby Barn, 1561 Jones Point Road, Grayslake. Admission is free. The film explores the complexity of soil and shares the voices of some of the world's most esteemed soil scientists, farmers, and activists. Using a mix of art and science, the film shows soil is a complex living organism. After the film, experts will be on hand to discuss sustainable farming practices, sustainability initiatives, how to cook healthy meals, homesteading workshops, and the connections between farmers, artisan food entrepreneurs, good food financiers, policy stakeholders, and consumers, the art of keeping bees and more.
