NC State, Doeren extend contract through 2019 season

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina State says coach Dave Doeren has signed a two-year contract extension through the 2019 season.

Athletic director Debbie Yow announced the signing Friday.

The extension raises Doeren's yearly guaranteed pay by $400,000 to $2.2 million plus incentives.

Yow calls Doeren "an outstanding leader" who "is committed to building a championship-level program the right way." Doeren says the program has "so much momentum right now."

Yow hired Doeren after firing Tom O'Brien following the 2012 season. The Wolfpack finished 8-5, improved their win total by five games from 2013 and won the Bitcoin Bowl in December.
