St. Charles church welcomes new music director with Evensong celebration

St. Charles Episcopal Church joyfully welcomes to its staff a talented and accomplished Music Director, Mr. Mark Downey. Downey will rejuvenate the liturgy at St. Charles Episcopal with his years of experience as a choral director, voice teacher, and organist.

Among his many marks of distinction are advanced music degrees from the Royal School of Music, Croyden, England, and Roosevelt University, Chicago. He is also an active member of Musica Ecclesia, an interdisciplinary program in Florence, Italy, and has conducted the Northwestern Chorus Master Classes with the Chorus of America. In addition, he often adjudicates vocal competitions at various levels.

On Sunday, Feb. 22, beginning at 3:45 p.m., Downey will lead the talented St. Charles Episcopal Chorus in "Evensong," an opportunity to gather in prayer while listening and participating in music that is especially selected to bring people into deeper understanding of the mysteries of faith.

Admission is free and all are welcome.
