Wine Gala to benefit Geneva Community Chest

The Geneva Community Chest will host its annual Wine Gala Thursday, March 5, at Riverside Banquets, 35 N. River Lane, Geneva.

Cost is $50 a person and includes a four-course dinner, with each course paired with the perfect wine. Cash bar opens at 6 p.m., with dinner following at 7 p.m. The menu includes mixed greens with walnuts, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette; smoked fish duo with red cabbage in dill dressing; pork tenderloin with whipped sweet potatoes and tart cranberry chutney; and grilled marinated sirloin steak with green beans and toasted almonds, followed by dessert.

John Matthews of Vintage Point is once again donating the wine for the gala.

Baskets and other items donated by local merchants will be raffled off between courses.

The 2014 event was sold out and President Jeff Rodewald urged those interested in attending, especially those who want to sit together in groups, to purchase tickets early. Tickets may be purchased on the Community Chest website, www.communitychest.org or by contacting Cookie Olson, (630) 232-8061, or cookieolson@att.net.

Proceeds benefit the Geneva Community Chest in helping provide resources to more than 20 charitable organizations that work to enhance the quality of life for community residents in need. Learn more at www.genevacommunitychest.org.

"This is a wonderful evening of food, fun and friends," Rodewald said. "At the same time, you know you are contributing to the health and wellness of our community. Coming to our gala helps us help others.
