St. Charles man, 81, charged with sexual abuse

An 81-year-old St. Charles man has been charged with sexually abusing a girl younger than 13 for a period of two years, according to Kane County court records.

Ronald O. Blouin, of the 800 block of South 11th Avenue, was charged late last week with felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse, records show. Authorities said the abuse occurred between October 2008 and October 2010.

He has posted $5,000 of his $50,000 bail and has been released from the Kane County jail.

Blouin is to have no contact with the girl and must stay 500 feet away from her residence, according to court records. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney representing him.

A message left with Deb Bree, executive director of the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, which investigates sex crimes against children, was not returned.

According to court records, Blouin has two previous arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol in Kane County.

The first was in August 2008 in St. Charles and he later pleaded guilty, was fined $1,325 and sent to alcohol treatment, records show.

In the second arrest, Blouin was charged with DUI after a single-vehicle crash near Bolcum and Randall roads near St. Charles in December 2012, records show. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 100 hours community service, fined $1,935, ordered to attend a victim impact panel and placed on conditional discharge, which is a form of probation, through June 2015.

Blouin is next due in court Feb. 27.

If convicted, he faces anywhere from probation to seven years in prison and must register as a sex offender.
