Police seize 23 pounds of marijuana during traffic stop

CHICAGO (AP) - Police say they've arrested a 39-year-old Chicago man after finding 23 pounds of marijuana in his SUV Friday during a traffic stop.

In a news release Saturday, the Chicago Police Department said Alexander Brown was charged with one felony count of cannabis possession.

Police say patrol officers who pulled over Brown for a minor traffic violation observed a large clear plastic bag containing cannabis sticking out of a black book bag in the vehicle's back seat. Another bag of marijuana was recovered from the SUV during a search. Police estimated the street value of the drug at $64,000.

Brown was also issued a traffic citation.
