Chicago crews to remove items used to claim parking sports

CHICAGO (AP) - City officials in Chicago are warning that if residents want to keep those lawn chairs, milk crates and bar stools they've used to claim parking spots they better move them.

City work crews will interject themselves into the tradition of clearing the snow from parking spots and then claiming "dibs" with household items by collecting those markers as soon as Friday.

Now that the snow is slowly going away, the city is doing what it does every year: asking people to move everything from dressers to large stuffed animals. And just like they've done in years past, city crews will start collecting those things that haven't been removed.

The first items to go will be those that someone has called 311 to complain about.
