American English, Mike and Joe to headline Naper Nights

Several familiar musical acts, including American English, Mike and Joe and guitarist Daryl Stuermer, will headline Naper Settlement's Naper Nights Community Concert Series this summer in downtown Naperville.

The concert series will run from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays June 19-20, July 24-25 and Aug. 21-22 at the settlement, 523 S. Webster St.

“I think it's probably one of the strongest and most diverse lineups yet,” Naper Nights Committee co-chairman Chris Korsgard said in a written statement. “Each year, we have tried to mix in music from every decade and genre of rock to entertain rock music lovers of all ages.”

American English, a Beatles tribute band, will open the series on June 19 by performing the album “Help!” in its entirety along with other Beatles hits. On June 20, Elevation, a U2 tribute band, will take center stage.

Stuermer, the lead guitarist for Genesis and Phil Collins' band, will perform July 24. He performed on Collins hits such as “In the Air Tonight” and “Easy Lover” and will perform other Genesis and Collins hits as well. The following evening, on July 25, the nine-member Think Floyd will perform the music of Pink Floyd.

On Aug. 21, Mike and Joe, a modern rock cover band, will perform. Deacon Blues, a Steely Dan tribute band, will open the evening of Aug. 22, followed by Deacon Blues' main keyboardist and vocalist Brian Harris as Simply Elton, a tribute to Elton John.

In addition to the music, each weekend will include a History of Rock trivia challenge.

Admission to the concerts is $15 for adults and $10 for youths ages 4 through 12. For details or tickets, visit www.napernights.org.
