Buffalo Grove to honor security officer at RED OUT event

The community is invited to come out in support of the Buffalo Grove High School National Honor Society's annual "RED OUT" fundraiser - this year, in memory of the school's beloved security guard and former police counselor, "Officer Bob" Heer.

A RED OUT is an opportunity to increase community and school participation via an athletic event that raises awareness and funds to support lifesaving research through the American Heart and American Stroke Associations.

Heer died last Christmas Eve, due to a sudden stroke. All funds raised by the National Honor Soceity will be donated to the associations in "Officer Bob's" name.

RED OUT shirts were sold in the Buffalo Grove cafeteria during lunch hours throughout the week. The National Honor Society urges everyone to wear their shirts at the evening home basketball game vs. Elk Grove High School.

Heer's family will be present at the game as honored guests. The community is encouraged to attend and show its support for Heer's family, as well as to further the efforts of The American Heart and American Stroke Associations' to eradicate cardiovascular disease and save lives.

The home basketball games begin at 6 p.m. for the junior varsity team and 7:30 p.m. for varsity. Both games will be held at 1100 W. Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove.
